Oldham Athletic V Stevenage | Betting Tips, Predictions & Picks | Oldham Picks

News April 1, 2021

Oldham Athletic face Stevenage at Boundary Park on Good Friday as they go head to head in League Two.

Written by Tom Pearce, Oldham Picks Predictor (@tompearce97)

This will be the 11th meeting between the two sides, the first coming in 2011 in which the game finished as a 1-1 draw.

It was The Boro who came out as winners in the reverse fixture, winning 3-0 on the day.

How will Friday’s game play out?

Oldham Athletic Team News & Injuries

It looks as if there aren’t any new injury concerns for Keith Curle as all the Oldham players came off the pitch on Saturday unscathed.

Stevenage Team News & Injuries

Similarly, Alex Revell should have the same group of players to choose from as Saturday’s game didn’t offer any new injury worries.

Oldham Athletic Form

It was a disappointing weekend for The Latics as they fell to defeat, losing 2-1 away to Leyton Orient.

They’re really not in the best of form either. With just one win from their last six games, they currently find themselves sitting in 19th in the form table.

Whilst they did win their last game at Boundary Park, that was their first three points at home in five games.

Stevenage Form

The Boro continued their unbeaten run with a 2-1 win at home to Barrow thanks to a late Luke Norris penalty.

That means that Stevenage have now gone 10 games without losing. That means they’re currently positioned in second spot in the form table.

Whilst they are unbeaten in their last five games on the road, the last four have all ended in 0-0 draws.

Our Picks For Oldham Picks – Oldham Athletic V Stevenage

In Focus

1. Will Oldham Athletic score in the first half? No

The Latics have found the net just once in the opening 45 in any of their last four games.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see them fail to score in the first half either, doing so in 58% of their home games this campaign.

As well as that, Stevenage have conceded just nine goals from 19, which is an average of 0.47 goals against per first half on the road.

2. Will Oldham Athletic score in the second half? No

The Latics have scored slightly more goals in the second period compared to the first when at home.

They have found the net 14 times from 19, which means they are currently averaging  0.74 goals scored per second half at Boundary Park.

The thing is, Stevenage have kept a clean sheet in the second 45 minutes in 63% of their away games this season.

3. How many goals will Oldham Athletic score? 0

Oldham have failed to find the net in three of their last five games played at Boundary Park.

It certainly wouldn’t be a surprise for that to happen again on Friday, as they have failed to score in almost a third of their home games this campaign.

As well as that, Stevenage have really shored up their defence recently, especially away from home.

In fact, they have kept eight clean sheets on the road this season, with five of them coming in their last five away games.

4. How many goals will Oldham concede? 1

Whilst Stevenage don’t tend to score many goals, Oldham have a very poor defensive record at home this campaign.

They have kept just one clean sheet, whilst conceding 34 goals from 19 games, which is an average of 1.79 goals against per home game.

In The Boro’s 10 game unbeaten run, they have scored at least one goal in six of them.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see them score exactly one goal either, having done so in almost half of their away games this season.

5. Will Davis Keillor-Dunn score? No

The versatile midfielder has nine goals to his name so far this campaign, with eight of them coming in the league.

He has found the net on two occasions in his last 10 appearances, however, both of those came in the 2-1 loss to Cambridge.

This will be just the second time Keillor-Dunn will have faced Stevenage, but he failed to score in his previous match against them.

Will Callum Whelan score? No

Whelan is yet to find the net in an Oldham shirt and it’s unlikely that his first goal will come on Friday.

This will also be the midfielder’s second time coming up against Stevenage, failing to score in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

  • How many shots on target will Alfie McCalmont have? 1
  • How many shots on target will Conor McAleny have? 1
  • Will Marcel Hilßner assist a goal? No
  • How many tackles will Dylan Fage make? 2
  • How many tackles will Carl Piergianni make? 1
